A gas explosion in a southwest China coal mine killed seven people and injured two others, authorities said Friday.
The accident happened at around 1 p.m. Thursday, when 18 people were working underground at the Rongsheng Coal Mine in Zhenfeng County, Guizhou Province, according to the local government.
Rescuers managed to pull 11 workers out, with two severely injured but whose conditions are not life-threatening, the government said.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.
