The 5th New York Chinese Film Festival has been scheduled for January, 2017, event organizers announced at a launch ceremony for the festival in Beijing on Friday, according to haiwainet.cn.
The organizers stated that as 2016 marking the Year of US-China Tourism, they hope to use the festival to further boost tourism cooperation between both countries through film events as well as cultural exchanges.
Festival activities will include an opening ceremony, film screenings, forums and an award ceremony.
Forums will focus on the first films of directors and short-film production to help support new talents in the industry,
The festival will include 36 universities famous for film education in the Eastern US for the first time, including New York University, the New York Film Academy, Harvard University and Columbia University.
The organizers also aim to raise $1 million to help young film talents in the industry.
