Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Friday held talks with his Sudanese counterpart Ibrahim Ahmed Abd al-Aziz Ghandour, pledging to further promote the strategic partnership.

Stressing that China highly values friendship with Sudan, Wang said political mutual trust has improved and progress has been made in various fields since the two presidents announced the strategic partnership last year.

China is willing to maintain strategic mutual trust with Sudan and expand cooperation in the areas of energy, production capacity, agriculture, renewable energy and people-to-people exchange, Wang said.

Wang said China appreciates Sudan's long-term support of China's core interests and major concerns and supports Sudan's efforts to safeguard national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Ghandour thanked China for its valuable support on international occasions and assistance in social and economic development.

He said Sudan adheres to the one-China policy and China's stance on the South China Sea.

The two sides also exchanged views on international hotspot issues.

Also on Friday, Chinese Vice President Li Yuanchao met with Ghandour.
