Chinese people should have more nutrition-balanced breakfast, experts said during the kickoff ceremony for 2016 China Nutrition Communication Conference and Amway Nutrilite Nutrition China charity campaign, which will last throughout November and will bring nutrition education events to cities all over China.
The ceremony, held in Beijing on Oct 25, featured a forum on nutrition education, and famous nutritionists, including Yang Yuexin, director-general of Chinese Nutrition Society, delivered speeches on related issues, such as the newly issued national nutrition guidelines.
Ding Gangqiang, director with National Institute for Nutrition and Health, under Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said survey revealed that more than 80 percent of Chinese people are not having healthy breakfast, and children, women, people living in poverty-struck areas are more likely to not have healthy, nutritious breakfast.
Healthy, and nutritious breakfast should provide enough and balanced amount of starch, high-quality proteins, dietary fibers, and vitamins, he said.
