"I Am Not Madame Bovary," a domestic feature film released on November 18, topped the Chinese box office, earning 204 million yuan (29.6 million U.S.dollars) in the week ending November 20, China Film News reported Tuesday.
Disney's "Doctor Strange" dropped to second place, grossing 133 million yuan in the same week.
"Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk," a Hollywood war film directed by Ang Lee, took third place this week, taking 55 million yuan.
Hollywood action movie "Deepwater Horizon" ranked fourth, raking in 54 million yuan since hitting Chinese screens November 15.
Rounding out the top five was "One Piece Film Gold," a Japanese animation, which took 32 million yuan in the week.
