Online recruitment website 58.com has released its annual report on services industry wages, showing that on average masseuses are the highest paid with monthly wages of about 17,669 yuan ($2,576), followed by the 15,225 yuan average wage of fitness coaches.
The Annual Service Industry Salary Survey Report 2016 shows that maternity matrons, car mechanics, beauticians, air-conditioner technicians, deliverymen, drivers and chefs round out the top 10 wage list, news portal ce.cn reported on Tuesday.
The rise of online-to-offline services has seen a rapid growth in the numbers of delivery workers in first-tier cities, with food deliverymen getting an average monthly wage of 6,829 yuan and goods deliverymen getting 7,028 yuan a month, according to the report.
"Our delivery workers can make more than 5,000 yuan per month and some can earn more than 10,000 yuan at peak times such as the Double 11 shopping festival," an unnamed delivery company employee said, ce.cn reported.
The report also shows increasing need for personalized and upscale service employees who are breaking services industry salary records.
"Many people are only concerned about decent pay but are not aware of the hard work contributed by blue-collar workers," said Liu Kan, a recruitment manager at 58.com.
According to the 2016 Beijing annual salary survey report conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics, the average monthly wage in the capital is approximately 6,906 yuan, ce.cn reported.
