Gong Linna performed at the closing of the concert, Enchanting China: Masterpieces of Chinese Music, at the Sony Center for the Performing Arts in Toronto on Saturday.

Combining a variety of musical sounds, including from the Peking Opera, the concert was part of a Canada tour by the China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra that kicked off on Nov 29.

During the tour, Gong also sang Chinese folk songs along with the Ottawa Bach Choir.

Born in Southwest China's Guizhou province, Gong, 41, became a hit online after her song Perturbed was broadcast in 2011. Backed by German composer Robert Zollitsch, her husband who writes and produces her songs, Gong has continued her success with new numbers.

The couple's project, New Chinese Art Music, experiments with musical ideas from the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties.
