China Railway just released its plan for the 2017 Spring Festival travel rush. The 2017 Spring Festival officially starts January 13 and concludes February 21, lasting 40 days, the People's Daily reported.
The total number of railway passengers is expected to be 356 million, an increase of 9.7 percent than last year. Rail tickets for 2017 will go on sale from Thursday.
Notably, online procedure for ordering rail tickets will be simplified, as 60 percent of tickets sold online will not require individuals to input a verification code when placing an order.
Additionally, some new high-speed railway routes to and from Shanghai and other cities will be put into use during Spring Festival.
For instance, travelers heading to Guizhou or Yunnan provinces can now take a new high-speed railway route.
