Festival of Chinese Films featuring a retrospective of the 20th century movie production of China opened here on Monday.
"This retrospective is an opportunity to get to know the forerunners of great Chinese directors who make the modern Chinese film industry one of the most wanted not only at film festivals across the world, but also to wider audiences," said Jugoslav Pantelic, director of the Yugoslavian Film Archive at the opening ceremony.
During the festival running from Monday to Saturday, the audience can watch all 10 screenings for free at the Yugoslavian Film Archive in Belgrade, which is Serbia's national institution in charge of archiving and presenting film heritage.
Classical Chinese films from the first "golden period" of the Chinese cinema in the 1930s to the releases of 1980s are offered to the audience.
Representatives of the Chinese Film Archive in Beijing also traveled to Belgrade for the opening ceremony and related cultural communication.
