The twelve kindergarten students injured in a knife attack in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region are in stable condition, local authorities said on Thursday.
Seven of the children, who were seriously injured, are still in intensive care.
The suspect, a man identified only by his surname Qin, is in police custody. He stabbed the children with a kitchen knife after gaining entrance to Xiaocongzai kindergarten in Youyi Township, Pingxiang City at 3 p.m. Wednesday, when he pretended to be parent, according to Pingxiang City Public Security Bureau.
The man, from Nanshan village, confessed that the attack was motivated by animosity between himself and some of his fellow villagers.
Pingxiang City tightened security at all schools after the incident. Police officers will be installed as deputy principals in schools and made responsible for security. Guards will be hired and 24 hour alarm systems will be installed.
