The Ritz-Carlton's first golf resort in China, The Ritz-Carlton, Haikou, pays homage to the grand, historic traditions of golf at Mission Hills Haikou, a unique entertainment complex amid the world's largest golf complex on China's tropical island of Hainan.
Reminiscent of a traditional golf clubhouse, the brand's first golf resort in China combines traditional classic detailing with luxurious contemporary flair as it immerses guests in the sport's historic heritage.
Upon arrival, guests automatically feel a strong connection between interiors featuring golf artwork, trophies and insignias, and the sweeping golf course below the lobby lounge balcony.
Golf's notable emblem, the traditional tartan weave, is reinterpreted as a unique floor pattern, grounding the space and creating a distinct and immediate character. Warm natural timber is used throughout with refined profiles and clean paneling adding a layer of texture and elegance.
Aged leathers enrich the classic furniture with tufted buttoning and metal stud details enhancing the overall style. Clusters of artwork and golf trophies, so significant to the Mission Hills brand, complete the concept and ensure that guests feel relaxed and at home.
The truly unique experience of celebrating the traditions of golf extends to iconic bagpipes played at sunset, inspiration from golfing legends on evening turndown notes, and even the "Arnold Palmer," a welcome drink made of iced tea and lemonade.
After a long day on the fairways, The Ritz-Carlton Spa features tailored treatments for golfers to relax and rejuvenate, from a golfer's tonic that releases tension in the back and neck and a foot soak and scrub that revitalizes weary legs and feet to a powerful hot-stone massage. To prepare for the next round, golfer's yoga on the lawn is just the tonic for boosting flexibility in the morning.
Golf is fun for the whole family, and little golfers also have their own mini golf course with classes and games in the hotel gardens. Even "love on the green" wedding packages adopt a golf theme.
Furniture and accessories are thoughtfully arranged to create an atmosphere of warmth and homeliness, with textured fabrics and geometric patterns inspired by vintage golf elements. Stitching features incorporated into wall paneling and light fixtures evoke details reminiscent of handmade golf shoes. Antique leather on the bed-end bench references a weathered golf bag, and the plush deep hue of the sofa is reminiscent of a cashmere golfing jumper. Even the metal dimple pattern on the lift doors is a subtle interpretation of a golf ball.
"It is truly an honor to be opening the first Ritz-Carlton golf resort in China. Our ladies and gentlemen are extremely excited to open our doors and pair the world-class experience of The Ritz-Carlton with the world-class golf of Mission Hills," said Christopher W. Sommers, the general manager of The Ritz-Carlton, Haikou.
