The launch ceremony of the charitable activity
Southern China's Guangdong province recently provided 2,000 long-distance bus tickets to economically disadvantaged students free of charge. The offering is intended to lower the economic burden placed on students in advance of Spring Festival.
According to the organizer of the charitable activity, in addition to the 2,000 tickets, students and faculty can enjoy additional discounts on tickets and free accident insurance. The campaign is also intended to minimize the safety risks associated with illegal cabs.
One student, surnamed Lin, told Chinanews.com that he saved more than 100 RMB ($14.50) on his trip, adding that the campaign guarantees the safety and convenience of his travels.
Currently, 21 buses have been coordinated in Guangzhou, deployed to seven destinations. It is estimated that the campaign will benefit more than 1,000 students and faculty members.
