Senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Yunshan on Wednesday called for improved Party building and for officials to be selected and promoted in an orderly manner.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a meeting attended by leading officials of the Party's organization departments from across the country.
He stressed the importance of discipline when selecting and promoting officials, saying that candidates should be selected and promoted in a precise and methodical manner to ensure a clean political environment.
Liu also called for better work toward the election of delegates to the 19th National Congress of the CPC to be held this year, as well as local leadership transition.
He asked organization departments to practice strict intra-Party political life and strengthen intra-Party supervision, focus on "key minorities" and promote "comprehensively and strictly governing the Party."
He said Party building and organization work should be improved in this regard to support the 19th National Congress of the CPC.
Liu asked organization departments to be loyal to the Party, be impartial and upright, and improve their professionalism and skills.
The meeting was presided over by Zhao Leji, head of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee.
