A mental health doctor who moved to another hospital but not before emptying the psychiatric ward of all but one patient is now facing a lawsuit from his former employer.
Guiyang Hospital in Southwest China's Guizhou Province said they're seeking to take legal action against Yang Shaolei after he rounded up 64 of their mental patients and took them to his new employer, Guiyang Sixth People's Hospital, on January 30, thepaper.cn reported.
So far only four patients have been returned to Guiyang Hospital, the local health and family planning commission announced Sunday.
Yang had resigned from Guiyang Hospital on January 29 and requested to check out the patients, which hospital officials denied, news portal cyol.com reported Saturday.
In a released statement, Guiyang Hospital said Yang was one of 11 other employees who walked out of the hospital and had not consulted with the patients' guardians.
Only one patient, a 103-year-old with Alzheimer's, was left behind in the mass move.
In their statement, Guiyang Hospital called the mass walk out an organized and well-planned move to damage hospital's interests.
