Sri Lanka, on Wednesday said it shared very good relations with China and looked forward to working closely with them.
Foreign Minister, Mangala Samaraweera, speaking at a forum organised by the Foreign Correspondents Association of Sri Lanka said that China had become one of the world's emerging economies and had invested largely in the island country.
He said China was now funding an economic zone in Hambantota in the south which any country could invest in.
"Even though these zones are funded by Chinese money we would like to see other countries investing. We would like to see the world coming in," Samaraweera said.
He further said Sri Lanka had become the ideal destination for investments and the government wanted to ensure that it had an investor conducive environment.
In addition to Hambantota, Samaraweera said the government would also like to see more international investments in Trincomalee in the east, and other parts of the country.
