The People's Daily, flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC), will run a commentary Tuesday calling for quality and efficient intra-Party democracy in the election of delegates to the 19th National Congress of the CPC.
The commentary will say that both intra-Party democracy and strict observation of electoral rules must be ensured, noting that such efforts are important to ensuring delegates elected are representative.
It called on Party committees to carefully follow the procedural requirements of the CPC Constitution and the CPC Central Committee.
The article will say that "intra-Party democracy is vital to the CPC," adding that the election of delegates to the Party's national congress is an important channel for Party members to participate in the CPC's intra-Party political life.
It will say that Party members' rights to know, participate, elect and supervise must be guaranteed so that every member has the opportunity to express their will.
The article underlines the importance of procedural rules, stressing that process should be carried out in prudent, straightforward fashion.
The commentary will say that Party committees must play a leading role in the election, stay aware of electoral developments and formulate emergency plans to ensure the election is orderly.
