Four people were killed in a house fire in Shanghai late Wednesday night, the city's fire department announced Thursday.
The fire broke out at a rented house on Zhongshanbei street in Putuo district around 11:30 p.m. and was extinguished in half an hour.
The four victims are related, police said, and pledged stepping up overhaul of rented houses.
An investigation is underway.
