China will improve the way in which it protects immovable artifacts, according to a plan issued by the State Administration of Cultural Heritage on Tuesday.

During the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) period, China will roll out projects to protect the Great Wall and artifacts related to the revolutionary period, according to the plan.

By 2020, the museum-to-population ratio will be 1:250,000, and museums will attract 800 million visitors each year, said the plan.

There are 4,692 registered museums in China, 4,013 do not charge an entrance fee, it added.

There are also plans to improve creative cultural products by grouping products.

The more than 20 enterprises and institutions selling such products will have annual sales exceeding 20 million yuan (2.9 million U.S. dollars) by 2020, according to the plan.

The country will enhance fostering professionals and training of staff at grassroots level.
