Chinese police apprehended 1,998 railway ticket scalpers during the 40-day Spring Festival travel rush which concluded on Tuesday.
Police confiscated 67,000 genuine tickets in 1,600 cases and seized 43,000 counterfeit tickets.
Police also seized 640,000 grams of narcotics and rescued one kidnapped woman and child.
Railway police increased station security checks and found nearly 1,700,000 dangerous items including 54,000 controlled knives.
Spring Festival, the most important occasion of family reunions, fell on Jan. 28 this year.
During Spring Festival, hundreds of millions of people go back to their hometowns, putting huge stress on the transport system despite significant improvement in infrastructure over the last few years.
