The week-long Chinese Film Festival is starting in Nepal on April 7, organizers said on Thursday.
The film festival will see the screening of eight movies over the course of a week, Dipak Sarkar, president of the World Cultural Net, Dipak Sarkar, who is the main organizer, told Xinhua.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at the Russian Centre of Sciences and Culture on April 7 in Kamalpokhari in the capital, which will be followed by the screening of the Chinese movie Hua Mulan, the organizer said.
Chinese movies will be screened at various halls around the Kathmandu Valley, hoping to reach to a wider audience.
Chinese movies to be screened in Kathmandu are namely American Dreams in China, City Monkey, Sunlight on Fingertips, The Message, Little Big Soldier, Fallen City, Lost in Thailand and Hua Mulan.
"We have been organizing this film festival since 2000 with the objective of enhancing the cultural exchanges between Nepal and China. In addition to that we would like to inform about Chinese cultural, social and economic development to the Nepali people through the Chinese movies," Sarkar said.
The event will be organized by the World Cultural Net of Nepal at the sponsorship of the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu.
The Film Development Board and Cultural Corporation of Nepal will be supporting the film festival, which will end on April 13.
