Chinese Table Tennis Association chairman Cai Zhenhua was unanimously re-elected as president of the Asian Table Tennis Union (ATTU) in an ATTU General Meeting here on Monday.

The 55-year-old, who led the Chinese team back to glory more than two decades ago, was first elected to the post in 2009, succeeding his countryman Li Furong.

"With eight years' hard work, Cai earned confidence and respect from almost all the 44 member associations of the ATTU," said Yue Kwok Leung, honorary secretary general of the continental organization and chairman of the Hong Kong table tennis association. "That's why there's no one challenging President Cai for the post and the election went so smoothly today."

Looking forward to his next four-year term, Cai said he'd dedicated to the sport's further development in Asia, not only vying for better competitive results but also pushing the organization's influence and marketing of ATTU events to a new level.

"I'm very grateful to all the ATTU delegations who fully believe in me, and looking forward to a more united, harmonious and active ATTU in the next four years," said Cai.
