A logistics entrepreneur in Changzhou, east China's Jiangsu Province, has reportedly been arrested after attempting to frame a competitor for arson by sending an incendiary device via the other courier's service.
According to a local newspaper report, the 32-year-old suspect named Liu held a grudge against his more successful rival and spent more than two months assembling a homemade incendiary device, expecting that its transportation would set it off and start a fire.
Police investigation found that Liu bought the materials for the device online in January. On March 31, he reportedly sent the package to a randomly selected receiver in inland Hubei Province using the service of his competitor. The apparatus failed to start a fire and the package arrived intact at the destination.

Nevertheless, the receiver in Huanggang, who was not expecting any packages, was alarmed at its contents and called in a bomb disposal squad. The newspaper report said that registration information left on the package pointed to Liu in Changzhou as the sender and the police quickly arrested the man.
