Universal's "The Fate of the Furious" achieved a landslide victory in the Chinese film market in the week ending April 16, with record high ticket sales of 1.3 billion yuan (189 million U.S. dollars), China Film News reported Monday.
The extended edition of "A Chinese Odyssey Part Two: Cinderella," a classic Hong Kong movie first released in 1995, landed in second place for the week, taking in 103 million yuan.
The fantasy film "Ghost in The Shell," based on Japanese animation, took third place, raking in 47 million yuan.
Legendary Pictures' "Kong: Skull Island" came in fourth, generating 41 million yuan.
Rounding out the top five was domestic suspense movie "The Devotion of Suspect X," which grossed 33 million yuan.
