Six people were trapped in a coal mine flood in northwest China's Shaanxi Province early Wednesday, the local government said.
The flood was reported at 4:40 a.m. in a pit of Bandingliangta Coal Mine in Daliuta Township in the resource-rich Shenmu County, the county government said in a statement.
Of the seven miners working in the pit, only one managed to escape, it said.
Rescuers are still searching for the trapped miners.
The cause of the flooding is under investigation.
