Two hikers died and at least one remains unaccounted for after they were hit by a snow storm in northwest China's Shaanxi Province, local rescuers said Friday.
A group of eight hikers were crossing the Taibaishan mountain in Baoji city, Shaanxi Province, when they were hit by a snow storm, according to Duan Zhijun, head of a local rescue team.
The hikers had gathered for the May 1 national holiday.
Two bodies were found, and at least one person remains missing. Their identities have yet to be announced. Five of the team survived, Duan told Xinhua by telephone.
Rescuers said there were several other outdoor teams crossing the Qinling mountain during the holiday, and more people were feared missing.
Ten rescuers are searching the mountains, and local government has sent over 50 staff and rescuers to assist the research.
