The Tsinghua University ranked the first in terms of 2017 budget among 75 universities that have announced their 2017 budget plan, The Beijing News reported Friday.
The university planned 23.3 billion yuan ($3.37 billion) in the budget for 2017, followed by Peking University with 19 billion yuan and Zhejiang University with 15 billion yuan. The three universities are well-known in China for their academic prestige.
Among the 75 universities, China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Central Conservatory of Music and the Central Academy of Drama have the lowest budget for 2017, none of which surpassed 1 billion yuan, according to The Beijing News.
Most of the universities' budget comes from government funding, tuition fee, operating revenue and alumni donation.
