Ethiopian runners grabbed the top honor both in men's and women's races in the 10th edition of the Yellow River Estuary International Marathon, which brought together 34,437 competitors to Dongying, Shandong province on Sunday.
Ethiopian runner Husen Muhammedahin Esmael finished first in the men's field in two hours, 14 minutes and 19 seconds. Defending champion Dickson Kipsang Tuwei of Kenya finished second in 2:14:22. Dadi Yami Gemeda of Ethiopia won the bronze with a time of 2:14:23.
The top two runners in the women's category broke the course record of 2:28:27, set by Ethiopian Mestawet Tufa in 2014.
The women's gold went to Letebrhan Haylay Gebreslasea of Ethiopia in 2:25:01. The runner-up was Kenyan Chemtai Rionotukei (2:26:30), ahead of her compatriot Georgina Jepkirui Rono in 2:28:52.
