Yang made the remarks when meeting with Peter Thomson, president of the UN General Assembly, who is in Beijing to attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation scheduled for May 14 to 15.
The Belt and Road Initiative is the implementation of the concept of building a community of shared future for mankind proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Yang said.
The initiative is an open and inclusive platform with the principle of "extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits," Yang noted. He reaffirmed that China will continue to support UN in an all-around way.
Thomson said the concept of building a community of shared future for mankind is critically important for the world's future. He supports the Belt and Road Initiative and is willing to work closely with China on the initiative.
The Belt and Road Initiative, proposed by China in 2013, aims at building a trade and infrastructure network connecting Asia with Europe and Africa along ancient trade routes.
