China is willing to cooperate with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) under the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative, said Vice President Li Yuanchao on Monday.[Special coverage]
Li, also honorary president of the Red Cross Society of China, held separate meetings with ICRC President Peter Maurer and IFRC Secretary General Elhadj As Sy, who attended the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on Sunday and Monday.
China is willing to strengthen cooperation with the two organizations, and carry out humanitarian projects in the Belt and Road countries, said Li.
The ICRC and IFRC leaders said they looked forward to more cooperation with China under the Belt and Road framework.
