China's Dunhuang Academy and the UK's British Museum signed a memorandum of cooperation on Monday, the Cultural Heritage Bureau of Gansu Province announced on Tuesday.
According to the five-year agreement, both sides will work together on research, cultural relic protection, digitalization and exhibitions that will prove beneficial for museums in China, the UK and other parts of the world.
The British Museum will also provide training, internships and visiting scholar opportunities for experts from the Dunhuang Academy.
Meanwhile, the Dunhuang Academy will provide opportunities for experts from the British Museum to carry out research in China and share techniques concerning the protection of murals, exhibition design and digitalization of art.
Both sides will also work on research related to the ancient Silk Road as well as hold joint exhibitions in both countries in the future.
