China's National Bureau of Statistics released data on urban residents' disposable income and consumption expenditure in 31 provinces and municipalities during the first quarter of 2017. Statistics show that Shanghai residents earn the most - but also spend the most.
According to the statistics, the per capita disposable income of urban residents in Shanghai, Beijing, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Tianjin exceeded 10,000 yuan ($1,450).
The per capita disposable income of Shanghai residents ranks first with 15,841 yuan followed by Beijing with 14,558.12 yuan and Zhejiang with 13,040.06 yuan.
Statistics show that the national residents' per capita consumption expenditure was 4,796 yuan. During the first quarter, Shanghai residents' per capita consumption expenditure was 10,165.88 yuan, ranking the highest across the nation.
