Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will pay an official visit to Russia from Thursday to Friday, at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov, a foreign ministry spokesperson said Wednesday.
Wang will meet Russian leaders and hold talks with Lavrov during this visit, spokesperson Lu Kang said at a daily press briefing.
The two sides will make preparations for high-level visits and exchange opinions on international and regional issues of common concern, according to Lu.
"China and Russia will strengthen communication and coordination, based on the consensus reached by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, maintain the steady progress of bilateral ties, and contribute to world peace and stability," Lu said.
