China on Wednesday voiced firm support for the Philippines to fight terrorism.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang made the remarks at a daily news briefing in response to a question regarding a terrorist attack in Marawi in the southern Philippines on Tuesday. The attack killed at least three policemen and wounded 12.
Lu said terrorism is a common enemy of mankind, and China understands and supports the Philippine government to fight terrorism.
"We believe that the Philippine government will be able to maintain the safety and stability of the Mindanao region under the leadership of President Rodrigo Duterte," Lu said.
