In a pair Go game on Friday morning, AlphaGo, playing alongside Chinese Go master Lian Xiao, beats itself, which partnered up with another Chinese Go master Gu Li, a rare public occurrence in artificial intelligence programs playing against itself with human help on both sides.
The team of Gu and AlphaGo, playing black, seems to have a better chance of winning for the most of the game. But Lian and his AlphaGo partner have succeeded in reversing the situation during overtime.
Interestingly, the player putting down stones on behalf of AlphaGo - Gu's teammate- raised up a board asking to resign, while Gu opposed the plan.
Gu moved on before eventually conceding the match.
A team consisting of five top Chinese Go players will face off against the AI on Friday afternoon.
