China's Ministry of Education has approved the establishment of a Moutai college sponsored by the Kweichow Moutai Distillery.
The college, which will initially offer five majors and accomodate up to 5,000 students, will be aimed at cultivating skilled talent to serve regional economic development, the ministry said Saturday.
The five majors will be wine-making, viticulture and enological engineering, food quality and safety, resource recycling sciences and marketing, it said.
The college will be a private non-profit higher education institution.
The state-owned Moutai distillery was established in a small town in southwest China in 1951, and its extremely complicated production process has helped the brand prevail over competitors for decades.
