The China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) set up a foundation on Saturday that will serve as a service platform for autistic children and their families.
The foundation will focus on issues including subsidizing families facing financial difficulties, and supporting colleges and medical institutions in personnel training.
The foundation was set up with the support of enterprises, experts on autism and supporters after a year of planning by the CCTF, a source from the fund said.
According to Zhu Xisheng, secretary general of the CCTF, the treatment of autistic children still needs to improve in a few aspects, such as early examination and diagnosis, as well as long-term education of people with autism.
Founded in 1981, the CCTF has launched campaigns to improve education, health care and security for children in China.
