Two people died from injuries in a gas tank explosion that leveled a restaurant in the city of Huaian, east China's Jiangsu Province on Thursday morning, local police said. Twelve others were hospitalized.
The blast occurred at around 9:30 a.m. local time (0130 GMT), and caused the restaurant to collapse.
Rescuers initially pulled 14 injured people from the ruins, but two later died while receiving treatment.
Search and rescue operation is still ongoing.
Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
