China Thursday urged Japan to follow the spirit of the pacifist constitution of Japan and remain on a path of peaceful development.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks at a daily press briefing when commenting on Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe' s recent attempts to amend the Constitution.
Hua said that the international community, particularly nations neighboring Japan, have kept a close eye on the country's moves on military and security affairs, due to historical concerns.
Earlier in May, Abe reiterated his wish to amend the Constitution.
