The Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Finance have issued a plan to popularize traditional Chinese opera in rural areas.
The plan is part of a national scheme for traditional cultural inheritance, which aims to improve public cultural services in rural areas.
County-level governments are responsible for improving community cultural service centers, and training and developing opera troupes.
Opera maestros will also be invited to the countryside to give lectures and performances. Financial departments will set up special funds to support the plan.
A national law with aims to improve cultural services and to carry forward the traditions of Chinese culture went into effect on March 1.
