A total of 22 people have been punished over a fire that killed 18 people in east China's Zhejiang Province in February, according to a recently published report.
A fire broke out at Zuxintang foot massage and bathing parlor in Tiantai County in the city of Taizhou at 5:24 p.m. on Feb. 5, killing 18 people and injuring 18 others.
According to the report approved by the provincial government of Zhejiang, the fire was caused by the malfunction of the heater in the sauna.
Nine people, including the parlor's legal representative Li Haixiao and general manager Xiong Shouxin, have been detained by police and are under investigation.
Another 13 were given disciplinary sanctions of various types including recording demerits and removal from post.
