China reaffirmed Wednesday that it opposes the deployment of the U.S. Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system in the Republic of Korea (ROK).
Media reported Wednesday that the ROK will suspend any further deployment of the U.S. missile defence system until an environmental impact assessment ordered by ROK President Moon Jae-In is finished.
In response, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying said that China will closely watch discussions on the issue in the ROK, and China's position on the deployment of the THAAD system remains consistent and unwavering.
