A high-speed railway will be built to connect Xiongan New Area in Hebei province and its neighboring city Tianjin, cutting the commute time between the two to less than an hour.
According to Zhao Haishan, vice-mayor of Tianjin, the high-speed railway is planned to run from Xiongan to downtown Tianjin and also to its Binhai New Area.
The distance between Xiongan and Tianjin is about 150 km.
Earlier last month, railway lines from Xiongan to Beijing and Tianjin were revealed on a Tianjin railway planning map, according to a report in Tianjin News.
The report showed that there will be two new railway stations in the new area-Xiongan Railway Station and Xiongan East Railway Station.
The Tianjin-Xiongan railway route will connect the area with Tianjin's new railway station, which is also in the planning stages.
