Xi Jinping, chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), has conferred an honorary title on a unit from the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Hong Kong Garrison.
In a military order issued recently, Xi told PLA troops to follow the example set by the company and to spare no efforts in building a strong army.
The order said the company has focused on that goal, and admirably fulfilled a series of important tasks.
It has scrupulously abided by military discipline and consistently made new achievements, the order noted.
The company, a special operation force under a brigade of the Hong Kong Garrison, has received awards on several occasions as a honorary grassroots unit.
The order urged all PLA troops and armed police forces to firmly follow the command of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and the CMC.
All military officers and soldiers should study the CPC's innovative ideas and strengthen their own political awareness to maintain absolute loyalty.
The army should base their practices and drills on real battle scenarios and set combat readiness as the priority so that they can immediately enter combat situations when needed, according to the order.
Moreover, the army should always abide by rules and regulations and maintain a good image.
The order also called for solid training and management at a grass-roots level, as well as building a tenacious, well-disciplined and responsible army.
