A large grassland fire that had been raging across the China-Mongolia border has been extinguished, authorities in China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region said Wednesday.
The fire crossed the border last Thursday and had raged in New Barag Left Banner near the city of Hulunbuir. No casualties were reported.
Currently, over 2,700 people are battling to guard against resurging forest fires in the region.
Since the end of June, ancient forest in the north of Inner Mongolia has seen a series of fires.
Fire fighters have been challenged by the thick forest, complicated landscape and high oil content in the trees.
