Heavy rainstorms grounded hundreds of flights in the Chinese capital city of Beijing, prompting authorities to issue the airport's highest alert for flight delays.
As of 19:00, a total of 625 flights were canceled at the Beijing Capital International Airport.
Beijing's meteorological authority on Thursday afternoon renewed its alert for heavy rain from blue to yellow, the third highest level of a four-tier warning system, as the rains which started since Wednesday were expected to continue all night.
On the same day, more than 100 trains passing through the central provinces of Hunan and Hubei were temporarily halted after the Liuyanghe Tunnel, along the high-speed railway between Beijing and Guangzhou, was flooded.
