A senior official has called on China's police force to make full use of big data and artificial intelligence to ensure more innovative and effective policing.
Meng Jianzhu, head of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks during a two-day inspection of southwestern Guizhou Province.
The area has been a pioneer in the application of big data technology in various sectors, including police work.
Meng asked public security authorities nationwide to improve coordination and be more innovative in investigations to curb new types of crimes and trans-regional crimes.
He also urged increased efforts in social management and judicial reform to create a sound social environment ahead of the 19th CPC National Congress.
