Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Liu Yunshan on Friday called on political parties of China and Romania to maintain high-level contacts and deepen exchanges on state governance and party building.
During a meeting with the chairman of Romania's ruling Social Democratic Party (PSD) Liviu Dragnea, also speaker of the Chamber of Deputies, Liu highlighted the long-term friendly relations between the CPC and the PSD.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the Belt and Road Initiative have brought new development opportunities for bilateral relations, with progress achieved in major projects between the two countries.
China stands ready to work with Romania to achieve an early harvest of these projects and explore new cooperative areas, he said.
On the political parties dialogue between China and the Central and Eastern European (CEE) countries, which is being held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, Liu said it is of great significance in building consensus between the political parties of China and CEE countries, and promoting cooperation within the 16+1 cooperation mechanism.
He also called for enhanced communication in youth and women's organizations in order to further consolidate the political and social base for the China-Romania friendship.
For his part, Dragnea said the Belt and Road Initiative, as well as China-CEE countries 16+1 cooperation mechanism will bring broad prospects to the development of Romania-China relations and bilateral mutually-beneficial cooperation.
Romania attaches great importance to the relations with China, Dragnea said, adding that his country has confidence and resolution to turn their friendship into practical outcomes and inject new vitality to bilateral ties.
