People will be less likely to feel left out when messaging others or commenting online when Apple's new emoji collection for its iOS, MacOS and Watch OS come out later this year.
The new emojis include a breastfeeding woman, a woman in a hijab, a meditating man and other symbols to help users better communicate. The company announced the news on Monday, coinciding with World Emoji Day.
The 69 new messaging symbols also include more animals like a t-rex and a zebra, fictional creatures such as zombies and elves, extra food options such as a steak and a coconut, a "mind-blowing" expression and more.
The new emojis come after the Unicode 10.0 standard was released on June 20. That saw 8,518 new characters added to the digital writing system, including 56 emojis to enrich skin tones, genders and other identities.
Apple's new emojis were approved by Unicode maker, Unicode Consortium, a non-profit group which sets global standards for text characters and emojis.
The group has approved 2,666 emojis as of June this year, up by 722 from two years ago. By increasing the official amount of available emojis, the group has made a greater effort to incorporate diversity, occupations, and national flags into the way the world communicates in the 21st century.
