An international fly-in air show opened Friday at Jiuzhou airport, in southwest China's Guizhou Province, former base of "Flying Tigers," the First American Volunteer Group of the Chinese Air Force during World War II.
The event was organized by the Aircraft Owners And Pilots Association of China.
More than 200 aircraft, including some from the United Kingdom and South Africa, are attending the five-day event.
In addition to an aerobatics display and night-time hot air balloon show, a simulated WWII air battle is also scheduled, according to the organizers.
The "Flying Tigers" were formed in 1941 by General Claire Lee Chennault, commander of the U.S. 14th Air Fleet, to transport arms and other materials, and support China in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.
