The 9th Beijing Dance Festival kicked off at the Beijing Tianqiao Performing Arts Center last Tuesday for a two-week run.
The festival brings together modern dancers from countries including China, the US, Finland, Hungary, Israel and India.
The event, as in previous years, is a two-week affair with education and performance.
The festival's first week opened on July 18 with a focus on education. Modern dance veterans around the world gave lessons and masterclasses at the Beijing Institute of Performing Arts.
"Circle 2, the flow" by Chinese choreographer Zi Wei opened the performance week last night. The show is his latest choreography, and reflects how one searches for new thinking in a flow which appears to be established and yet full of conflict.
The festival is scheduled to close on Sunday, July 30.
